40 Years of Martial Arts Teaching & Mentorship

Coach Jianjun Zhang brings 40 years of martial arts training and teaching experience, with a strong foundation in both traditional Chinese martial arts and contemporary competitive wushu.

His traditional martial arts expertise includes Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Xingyiquan, and Baguazhang, as well as a broad range of traditional hand forms and weapons.

In contemporary wushu, Coach Zhang has extensive experience in competitive taolu (forms) training and instruction, with an emphasis on fundamentals, physical conditioning, technical precision, movement quality, and performance.

He has taught youth and adult students for four decades, using progressive training methods tailored to each student's age, experience, and stage of development. His approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, disciplined practice, and the ability to commit to long-term training.

Coach Mei Ling Zhang

Mei Ling Zhang

USAWKF Certified Coach & Certified Judge

Mei Ling Zhang began training in martial arts at a young age and specializes in contemporary wushu, with a long-standing focus on taolu technique, fundamentals training, and competition preparation. She is well versed in international competition routines and judging standards, and follows closely how competitive wushu technique and requirements continue to evolve.

As a USAWKF Certified Coach and Certified Judge, she brings both a coach's and a judge's perspective. She has served as a judge at the U.S. Wushu Team Trials, giving her direct experience with competitive scoring criteria, technical standards, and competition requirements.

In her teaching, she places particular emphasis on fundamentals, technical detail, and learning efficiency. She builds a correct technical foundation through solid fundamentals, then uses movement breakdown, detailed correction, and targeted drills to help students grasp key techniques accurately and efficiently. She adapts her methods to each student's age, experience, and learning style, steadily developing body control, form quality, and competitive ability.

As the founder and coach of NC Wushu Kung Fu Academy, she is committed to providing young athletes with systematic, professional contemporary wushu training. She believes the value of wushu lies not only in competitive achievement, but in helping young people develop self-discipline, leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to serving their community through years of training. She encourages students to carry the perseverance, focus, and teamwork they build in training into their schools, families, and communities — so that wushu becomes not just a sport, but a path to personal growth, community service, and positive impact.

Through consistent training and practice, she hopes to help students build a solid foundation, discover their potential as they keep challenging themselves, and understand the deeper value that sport and martial arts can bring to their growth.
